Welcome to the mouse lab

Cages of mice, each kept under different conditions, every animal wired to a working model of its own brain. Guide one around, then open the Brain tab to see what its neurons are doing, moment by moment.

1 · move

Click anywhere on the floor to send the mouse there, or drive it with WASD.

2 · find cheese

Watch dopamine spike the first time it finds some — then fade as the mouse learns where to look.

3 · stand still

Stop moving and the hippocampus replays the path you just took, backwards, in a fraction of a second.

4 · open the tunnels

K connects all cages. Watch where they go — and watch the place cells remap as one crosses.

The brain you rotate is real mouse anatomy from the Allen Institute atlas, and each population reproduces a published experimental result. Nothing is pre-recorded.

Restart this session?

All cages will start fresh. Your current session and its report will be cleared.
